In 1906 when modern sports were beginning to be fully accepted in Japan Toshiya Mizuno and his brother Toshizo founded Mizuno Brothers Trading Company the predecessor of Mizuno. At that time it was a store that sold Western goods as well as baseball balls and gloves. At that time most sports goods were made overseas and there were no specialized manufacturers in Japan so Mizuno decided to become the first domestic manufacturer to manufacture full-scale sports goods and began developing baseball balls and gloves himself. The company was renamed Mizuno Co. Ltd. After that it overcame the chaos and hardships of the war and resumed operations as soon as the war ended. In addition to baseball Mizuno began to focus on product development for other popular sports such as golf skiing and running and by introducing Mizuno products to many sports the brand was soon widely recognized as a comprehensive sports brand. In 1964 the company supplied its products to many sports and athletes at the Tokyo Olympics further spreading the Mizuno name. Since the 1980s the company has actively expanded overseas expanding to all regions of the world including America Asia Europe and Oceania. Mizuno is one of the world’s leading comprehensive sports brands.
