ABOUT THE WINE
The 2019 “Les Graves Rouges” is a classic blend dominated by Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Malbec, sourced from old vines rooted in the deep gravel soils of the château’s estate vineyards in Côtes de Bourg. These well-drained, sun-exposed parcels impart a distinct mineral tension and concentration to the wine. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, followed by élevage in a combination of concrete and used French oak barrels, emphasizing purity of fruit over overt oakiness.
Aromatically, it’s rich with blackcurrant, plum, crushed rocks, and cigar box, underscored by dried herbs and subtle spice. On the palate, flavors of blackberry compote, licorice, and pencil shavings are framed by finely integrated tannins and a persistent, savory finish. This is a wine that balances rusticity and refinement, ideal for pairing with grilled lamb, beef stew, or wild mushroom dishes.
