One of the several wines in the Jean-Hubert Delon (Léoville Las Cases) stable, Château Potensac is a great little wine. It holds its own when tasted alongside its more illustrious siblings, displaying a powerful underbelly and precise structure. It usually offers exceptional value and rewards five to 10 years’ cellaring. Spicy green peppers greet the nose, combined with dark fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry. There is some sweet fruit on the finish, which is well balanced, quite long and intermixed with earthy spice, fresh acidity and ripe tannins.
Wonderful aromas of crushed berries, wet earth and rose petals. Medium body and integrated and fine tannins. Very polished and pretty. Needs at least two years to soften a little but a beauty already. Tiny production due to hail.
With low yields after a hail storm, the wine is concentrated and dense. It has a touch of wood aging as well as dark black fruits. The tannins are firm in a wine that will age well over the medium term. Drink from 2023.
