This 90/10 Nero d’Avola/Pignatello field blend is the only red wine produced from Salvatore Marino’s 2-hectare vineyard on the southeast coast of Sicily. Clay-limestone earth laden with marine fossils is nestled between the Ionian and Mediterranean seas, and the 30-year old vines are hand-tended with the lunar cycle. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and just one week of maceration, produces a fresh and focused red dressed in dry cherry tannins and a kiss of the Ionian breeze.
Pairing: Summer seafood stews and afternoon barbecues
Grape: 90% Nero d’Avola, 10% Pignatello
Soil: Alluvial clay-limestone, rich in marine fossils
