Another 13
In 2010, Le Labo was commissioned by An0ther magazine to develop an exclusive fragrance. The project came about thanks to Sarah from Colette, who initiated the creative collaboration between Le Labo and An0ther magazine’s editor-in-chief, Jefferson Hack. The result of this collaboration was Another 13, a captivating and unique scent.
Another 13 is most famously known as the “high-end body fragrance,” with a base of copious amounts of ambergris (a synthetic animal musk). Musk, jasmine, pear, and cedarwood notes are then delicately woven in, creating an extremely skin-hugging, lightweight fragrance.
Blending ambergris, musk, amber notes, woody notes, and mossy scents, the first spray delivers a light, mossy grassy aroma. As body temperature warms the scent, it becomes richer, with the opulent ambergris and musk giving way to subtle layers of moss and woody notes, all of which linger.
Another 13 is gentle on the skin, but the blend of yellow hibiscus and pear creates a fruity, fermented scent that isn’t exactly clean. A rich, bookish quality is crafted from this “sweet” decay, resulting in a harmonious blend of purity and desire.
This is not a particularly “fragrant” perfume; perhaps one must stand side by side with the wearer to detect the scent of their skin. Simple, gentle, clean, approachable, understated, and reserved—these are all apt descriptions of this fragrance.
Le Labo
In 2006, Fabrice Penot and Edouard Roschi co-founded Le Labo in New York City, a company dedicated to creating a range of elegant, innovative, and highly personalized perfumes. Their unique and innovative design philosophy quickly gained a loyal following among perfume enthusiasts, enabling Le Labo to expand its stores to major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles and even enter the Asian market within a few years.
Every fragrance from Le Labo’s perfume laboratory is meticulously crafted and blended by perfumers. Each scent is truly one-of-a-kind, and what’s even more surprising is that you won’t find two identical fragrances within Le Labo’s collection.
