Fernet is a herbal liqueur originating in northern Italy, but it is now very popular around the world, especially in South America. Most have an alcohol content of 35-40%, which is high among herbal liqueurs, and it is characterised by a clear taste with a sharp and strong bitterness. And the sugar content is less than half of Campari, and the main body of the bitterness is mainly distributed in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, and many of them use mint for finishing. – Black Market Sake

Founded in 2021 by distiller Tatsuya Motonaga, resides in a repurposed traditional house that’s more than 100 years old. Having worked in some of the world’s most recognised cocktail bars (Shinjuku’s Ben Fiddich, Shibuya’s Coal Ila and Taipei’s Wa-shu) Motonaga got the amaro bug after a huge distillery tour of Europe and the UK. He was hooked by the level of craftmanship, connection to local agriculture that create this drink of epic folkloric proportions. And how lucky are we to now have a Japanese interpretation.
